Terms of Use
In effect October 26, 2026 · version 2026-10b
This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.
Welcome to Meet First. These terms are the contract between you and 9577-4618 Québec inc., which operates Meet First ("Meet First", "we"). By creating an account, you accept them, along with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Community Rules, which are part of them. The Safety Tips help you meet people with confidence.
1. Who can use Meet First
- You are 18 or older.
- You are a person, not a business, and you have only one account.
- You have never been convicted of a violent or sexual offence, and no law or decision forbids you from using a dating service.
- You use your real first name, recent photos of yourself and a mobile number in your name. Your profile is verified by our team before you can meet anyone.
2. How Meet First works
Meet First is for meeting in person, with no chat:
- You say when you are free (an "availability"), the activities you like and the type or types of relationship you are looking for (long-term, short-term or both), each with its own criteria.
- Based on your availabilities and your criteria, the app suggests one person at a time, for a type of relationship you are both looking for, with a public place and a time. You choose "I accept" or "Pass", with no need to explain. A person who was passed on is not suggested to either of you for 30 days for that type of relationship.
- The date is confirmed only if you both accept. When the other person has accepted, you have 30 minutes to answer, or until 1 hour before the start if the date is soon. Without an answer, the suggestion expires, with no effect on your reliability.
- On the day, you confirm your arrival with your phone's GPS (the "check-in").
- After the meeting, you rate the other person, then choose "Crush" or "Not for me". Your choice stays confidential. You can change your mind at any time: a Crush can become "Not for me". A "Not for me" is final.
- If you both choose "Crush", the app suggests new dates together, just like at the start. When you are both free at the same time, it suggests a time, an activity and a public place you have not yet had together, and each of you accepts or passes: passing only skips that time. Meanwhile, the app suggests no one else to you, and suggests you to no one else. If one of you chooses "Not for me", these dates end, and the app starts suggesting other people again. A date already planned is then cancelled, with no effect on your reliability. Blocking or reporting the other person ends them immediately.
3. Your commitments
- Follow the Community Rules and the law, online and in person.
- Show up to the dates you accepted, or let people know in time.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your email address, your mobile number and your phone under your control: you are responsible for what is done with your account.
- Do not use Meet First for business, to ask for money or to recruit.
4. Reliability, choices after a meeting and ratings
- Reliability. A score from 0 to 100 (80 to start) measures your attendance and punctuality: arriving early +5, on time +2, late without notice −5, cancelling less than 3 hours before −5, not showing up −20. Letting the other person know you will be late, before the start time, costs nothing. The score is visible to the people you are suggested to.
- Choice after a meeting. You make your choice after the meeting, once you have rated the other person. You have 48 hours; without an answer, it is "Not for me". Your choice stays confidential. A Crush can become "Not for me" at any time; a "Not for me" is final, and the person is no longer suggested to you.
- Ratings. They are anonymous and required with your choice. Nobody sees individual ratings. They are used to choose future suggestions and, when low ratings repeat, for a review by our team.
- These calculations are automatic. You can ask us how they were made and ask for a person to review a decision about you (section 14).
5. Referral points
- Friends you refer earn you points, according to the scale shown in the app ("My points").
- Points have no cash value, cannot be bought or exchanged, and never change who is suggested to you. They are personal, cannot be transferred and are deleted with your account.
- Points obtained by fraud (fake account, referring yourself) are removed, and the account may be suspended. We may change the scale with notice in the app; points already earned are kept.
6. Price
Meet First is free. No paid plan is offered for now. If we ever offer one, its terms (price, renewal, cancellation) will be shown before any purchase.
7. Your content
You remain the owner of your photos and texts. You allow us to host them, adapt them for display and show them to other members as part of the service, as long as your account exists. You guarantee that you have the right to post this content and that it follows the rules. We may remove content that does not.
8. The app and how you may use it
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and revocable right to use the app. You may not copy the service, extract data from it (bots, scraping), get around it, overload it or use someone else's account. The Meet First brand, logo and app design belong to us.
9. Safety: what we do, and what we do not do
We verify profiles, choose public places, measure reliability and act on reports. We do not run criminal background checks and cannot guarantee how members behave. Read the Safety Tips. In an emergency, call 911.
Verification badge. The "Verified" badge (a shield next to the first name) means the person passed our profile verification: a photo taken in the app, compared by eye by our team with their profile photos. This badge does not guarantee a person's identity, behaviour or intentions: stay careful and follow our safety tips.
10. Suspending and closing an account
- You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete my account.
- We may warn, limit, suspend or close an account that does not follow these terms or the rules, including for conduct during a meeting. Except in an emergency or for safety reasons, we tell you and give the reason, and you can contest the decision by writing to us within 6 months.
11. Liability
We do everything reasonable for Meet First to work well and safely, but we cannot promise an uninterrupted service or a successful meeting. Each member is responsible for their own conduct. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for our own fault or the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.
12. Changes to these terms
We notify you at least 30 days before a change takes effect, in the app and by text message, with the new text and the date. If you refuse the change, you can close your account at no cost and with no penalty before that date.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the applicable federal laws. Any dispute may be brought before the courts of Québec, including the Small Claims Division. No clause forces you into arbitration or takes away your right to take part in a class action. You may also contact the Office de la protection du consommateur.
