Safety Tips

On Meet First, people meet in person. The app chooses a public place, verifies profiles and confirms arrivals. These tips add to those protections. Your safety comes first: you can always cancel, leave or ask for help.
If you are in danger, call 911.
Before the meeting
- Only accept if the place and time suit you: you can always choose "Pass", without explaining.
- Keep the meeting in the app: there is no need to give your number, address, workplace or social media. Exchanging numbers is only possible after a mutual Crush, and only if you want to.
- Look at the profile: "Verified" badge, reliability, number of dates attended.
- Tell someone close to you where and when you are going, and with whom (the first name is enough). Agree on a message at the time you should be leaving.
- Plan your transport, there and back, without relying on the other person. Keep your phone charged.
- Trust your instinct: if something makes you uneasy, cancel. More than 3 hours before, it has no effect on your reliability.
During the meeting
- Stay in the public place chosen by the app. Do not go to the other person's home or invite them to yours on a first meeting.
- Watch your drink: do not leave it unattended and only accept a drink served directly by the staff. Know your limits with alcohol.
- Keep your things with you: phone, wallet, keys.
- You can leave at any time, without explaining yourself. If you feel in danger, ask the venue staff for help or call 911.
Consent
- Consent must be clear, freely given and given at every step. It can be withdrawn at any time.
- A person under the influence of alcohol or drugs to the point of not being able to decide freely cannot consent.
- A "no", a silence or a hesitation is not a yes.
After the meeting
- Make your rating and your choice honestly: your rating is anonymous, and your choice stays confidential.
- If the other person behaved unacceptably, report them from their profile. You can also block them: you will never be suggested to each other again.
- If you do not want to see them again, choose "Not for me": they will not be suggested to you again, and they have no way to reach you in the app.
If you both choose Crush
- Your new dates together also take place in a public place chosen by the app. Keep the same safety habits.
- You exchange numbers only if you both want to.
- You can choose "Not for me" at any time, without explaining: your dates together end.
- If the other person insists, makes you uneasy or asks you for money, report or block them: this ends your dates together immediately, without waiting for the next meeting.
Scams
- Nobody has a reason to ask you for money, a transfer, gift cards, cryptocurrency or your banking details. Report any such request.
- Be wary of an urgent story, a "safe" investment or a person who always refuses to meet.
- Meet First will never ask for your sign-in code by text, email or phone.
Reporting
From a person's profile or a date, tap Report, choose the reason and add details if you want. The report is confidential: the person does not know who made it.
Our team reviews it, may ask for your side of the story and takes the appropriate measures: a warning, suspension or closure of the account, and, when the law requires it or someone is in danger, contacting the police. Reports made in bad faith are also against the rules.
